As any wedding insurance provider will tell you, your wedding is supposed to be the most memorable day of your life, and for almost everyone it certainly is. However, this isn’t always a good thing, and for some people their wedding day is a day they’d rather forget.

For example, there was the case of the bride who had managed to put together her perfect fairytale wedding, complete with a horse drawn carriage. Unfortunately on the way to the church the horse bolted, the driver was thrown from his seat and the horse and carriage began a frantic career through town. Fortunately, thanks to a solid wedding insurance policy, the wedding was still able to go ahead, three months later after the bride was safely out of hospital and able to rearrange everything.

Then there was the couple who booked a castle for their wedding, each staying in separate wings the night before, and dining at separate times to ensure that neither would see each other. Unfortunately they both managed to see the same dish served for dinner, containing the same bug which resulted in both of them sharing the delights of chronic food poisoning, somewhat hampering any attempt to walk down the aisle, or even escape the bathroom.

Yet another couple managed to survive both dinner and the journey to the church, their assumption that the whole day had gone perfectly was somewhat shattered when they were told by a rather red faced photographer that he had inadvertently forgotten to insert a memory card in his digital camera, and consequently had no photographs of the day at all, and would they be able to restage it sometime?

If you’re planning your wedding, don’t let these tales worry you too much… just enough to get you signed up to a sound wedding insurance policy. Your wedding day will, after all, be a day to remember. Just make sure it isn’t a missed opportunity to sort out insurance that you’re remembering.
