Demand for Wedding Insurance Increasing say Marks & Spencer
According to wedding insurance provider Marks & Spencer, demand for wedding insurance is increasing in the run up to Valentines Day.
They claim that the weeks after Valentines Day are typically the busiest for the firm, with many couples keen to ensure their special day is protected. Wedding insurance helps protect against financial loss following things like damaged attire, suppliers going out of business or even cancellation of the whole day.
In fact, the top claims for 2009 included both cancellation and damage to wedding dresses, according to the high street giant.
David Wells, head of insurance for Marks and Spencer, said: “Considering the cost of an average wedding and the current economic climate, wedding insurance really should be at the top of every bride and groom’s list.”
Many brides and grooms to be aren’t even aware that such a product exists, with some surveys indicating that only around 15% of couples even consider taking out a policy. Given the high cost of a wedding these days, more couples should be investigating wedding insurance to see whether it’s right for them. Ok, it’s rare for anything major to go wrong, but even the smallest thing could add a fair amount of cost to what already is a pretty expensive day!
