Do You Really Need Wedding Insurance To Cover 100% Of The Cost?
Should you choose wedding insurance that covers 100% of the cost of your wedding, or is it all right to under value your wedding and just cover some of it? This is a question a lot of couples have been asking, and either through intention or accident, a huge number of people are actually doing just this.
The average wedding in the UK costs £20,000, including the honeymoon. However, the typical amount of insurance which is being taken out is anywhere between half to three quarters of this amount, meaning that many couples are under insuring by several thousand pounds.

Is this all right though? Are there some aspects of your wedding which are likely to be less important, or covered by other insurance policies you may have, such as credit card protection, life insurance, home insurance and travel insurance?
It’s certainly true that there are some forms of insurance which will cover a few aspects of your wedding. For example, if you purchased your wedding rings using a credit card you may find that they’re covered against theft or loss. If you have home insurance you may find that hired wedding suits, bridesmaids dresses and the wedding dress are covered, but only whilst under your roof.
The problem really lies in the gaps between all of these different insurance policies. Your credit card may protect some items but not others, and in some situations but not others. Home insurance policies sometimes have upper limits on individual items, may not cover items that are hired, and won’t cover them once removed from the property.
The advantage of a wedding insurance policy is that there are no gaps to be wary of. Everything’s covered, and if anything goes wrong one single call will usually sort it. Under insuring can be financially very costly, but it can also be very time consuming, just when you have one or two other things to be getting on with.
