Wedding Insurance Is Not For You
Redundancy, like wedding insurance, is something other people have to worry about. Not you of course. With your picture perfect wedding coming up, life is looking more wonderful every day. What could possibly go wrong?
You might briefly spare a moment whilst reading the morning paper over your coffee and croissant, to pity the new wave of people joining the growing ranks of those who have suddenly been faced with the prospect of redundancy; the latest victims of the economical whirlwind that’s raging ‘out there’, somewhere in the other world you read about.
Thankfully your world is rosy and protected, with rock solid job security. Not for you, those wedding insurance blues! Not only are you so certain of your own security, you’re also blissfully confident that every supplier you have chosen to deal with has a financial pedigree and stability that would be the envy of any Rothschild or Rockefeller.
Wedding insurance, you surmise, is for those unfortunate people who lack the ability to face the future with 20/20 clarity and total confidence. Safety nets merely express a lack of self belief and self confidence.
Your wedding is a day when you celebrate your life, your romantic achievement, your faith in the future and your confidence in life, luck and the pursuit of bliss!
A sad shake of the head in acknowledgement of those less fortunate than yourself rapidly gives way to more concrete thoughts regarding your wedding arrangements.
That’ll be when the letter arrives to advise you that sadly, due to unforeseen financial difficulties your employer has had to review personnel deployment, and has unfortunately had to wish you good fortune, after which you get a phone call from your florist to apologise, but she has been forced to declare bankruptcy, and you discover later that day that the reception venue has just been handed over to the official receivers.
Never mind – it’s probably all a bad dream from which you will be roused shortly. After all, bad news and unforeseen events are like wedding insurance and redundancy – they’re for those unfortunate ‘others’ you keep reading about.
