John Lewis Wedding Insurance

John Lewis Finance was a major provider of wedding insurance for many years. However, they stopped selling new wedding insurance policies to customers in March 2020.

While any remaining exising policyholders are unaffected, it has not been possible to buy a new John Lewis wedding insurance policy for some time now. In August 2020 underwriter RSA announced they planned to exit the wedding insurance market altogether in 2021. This means unless John Lewis finds a new partner to provide the policies, they may completely withdraw too.

John Lewis wedding insurance, part of the John Lewis Partnership, had six levels of cover. They ranged from £10000 of cancellation cover for only £60 to the highest level offering £100,000 of cancellation cover for £310.

Weddings, both at home in the UK and abroad (for a small additional premium) were covered. Public liability cover was included as standard and cover for marquees (at an additional premium) could be added to the policy.

Supplier failure was covered too so if one of your suppliers went bankrupt or went into liquidation, it's likely you would have been able to recover any lost deposits.
